Mr. Sandy St. Peters, June 14th. 1953 - August 31st 2001 A bird that flies away is not gone but merely gone to another place... As you gaze upon the bright red cardinal at the feeder in a wintry scene, remember the illumination set upon the world by the bright talent that was Sandy St. Peters. A
world of pictures that you may already have - Peggy Lee. Carol Channing.
Tammy Faye. They were
hers... Born in Germany, Sandy grew up in Calgary. After he moved to Toronto and began drag in the late sixties she emerged like a butterfly from a cocoon. She moved to Vancouver in the early seventies, was noticed immediately and crowned Empress 1973 to 1974. Sandy stayed in Vancouver until leaving to return to Calgary in 1981. Shortly thereafter she toured western Canada with "Illusion Factor" until November of 1983, leaving a trail of admiring fans wherever she performed. Mr. St. Peters continued to live in Calgary, with a side trip to Brantford, regularly performing, gaining a brand new audience until her death. Young and Old, People loved her. Although
his final illness was unrelated to AIDS, as he was himself un-infected,
it is a special and telling note that Sandy co-organized and performed
at the first AIDS benefit in Canada in 1981, raising over $10,000. Sandy Saint Peters on the Memorial
