The Story of Djaeff Mahler
as shared with us by his mother Julie Mahler

Djaeff was one of five children born in the Mahler family. On April 26, 1956, he was born in Djakarta, Indonesia. The whole family moved to Holland and finally ended up settling in Vancouver, BC.

Soon after Djaeff's senior year he moved out to find his fame and fortune in life. Djaeff had four distinguished qualities: he was stubborn, caring, generous and a perfectionist. He was stubborn in the sense that he didn't listen to anyone when it came to taking care of himself. Some people in Toronto said he didn't listen to people on how to do things, he would do it his way. This was the perfectionist in him, you see Djaeff's final results were always excellent so he wouldn't let anyone let him get unfocused.

Djaeff cared more about how others were than about himself. When Djaeff was younger he used to be very protective of his two sisters. Even when he was in the hospital the first question he asked was, "Are you comfortable where you're staying?" He asked Carlise how her exams went.

When times were good he was generous. I remember stories of when he was literally starving and wouldn't ask for help.

Djaeff was very proud of everything he did, and he had reason to be. His art and music talents are perfection at its best. Windows On Yonge was set up by Djaeff. He recorded 4000 songs, track by track, so people could select a song to sing. The sound system is incredible, the food is great, and the people he worked and associated with were true friends.

Some of the many highlights of his career were singing on stage with his idol Dianna Ross, the promotional program for "Can't Stop the Music", Dianna Ross's album cover, and opening Windows On Yonge bar and restaurant.

Djaeff had many friends all over North America who will miss him dearly.

Djaeff was also part of a tightly knit family. We all loved him very much. My mom and Djaeff had a special bond that words cannot express. We will miss him but we know he'll be with us forever, helping us in our daily lives.
