The Memorial is contructed from a series of 20 Cor-ten® steel panels. The panels are anchored to concrete piers that extend several feet below grade. The anchoring brackets were specially designed and fabricated for this project to allow for maximum adjustment so that each panel could be properly aligned.

The names were cut through the panels using a high pressure water jet cutting process. This computer-controlled process directs a very fine pressurized jet of water at the steel panel. Grit mixed into the water acts as an abrasive and wears away the steel.

Two dedication panels and nine names panels were installed in 2004. Each panel took between three and four days to cut at an average cost of $10,000. A further two names panels were added in April 2006 to complete the Memorial.

The graphic layout required to drive the computer-controlled cutting process was created by April Shepherd-Trent of Taiji Brand Group in Victoria, BC. April painstakingly placed each letter of the over 1000 names and 29 sponsors on the Memorial. Her dedication and patience are unequalled.

The Memorial's setting is a delicate balance of existing landscaping and gracefully aging original trees, combined with intricate stone walkways and new plantings. Cedar Crest Landscaping was flexible, professional and patient, and their results are outstanding.
