This section of our site is dedicated to the Memorial itself. It's been over a decade since two people had a conversation about building a Memorial in Vancouver.

Little did Ed Lee and Dr. Joss de Wet know that they and countless volunteers who would join them were embarking on an occasionally controversial, often frustrating, but consistently rewarding decade-long journey.

Learn more about the design and structure of the memorial, and view a construction drawing. See photos and view a history of our incredible journey to raise funds, win public acceptance, and ultimately install the Memorial at Sunset Beach.

And finally, learn more about the touching poetry that floats above the names.

Left, the first panel is installed at Sunset Beach.
